About Birgu
One of the Three Cities, with historic streets and a harbour setting.
The Three Cities offer another perspective on the Grand Harbour. Birgu, Senglea and Cospicua are separate places, so approaching them as one attraction can make a day feel unnecessarily hurried. Begin with Birgu if Fort St Angelo is your priority. The fort is a Heritage Malta site at the tip of the waterfront and gives the outing a clear historical anchor. The surrounding harbour views are part of the appeal, but leave time to turn away from the water and notice the streets as well.
Reasons to explore
- Historic streets and waterfront scenery
- A distinct harbour-side identity
Things to consider
- Steps and narrow streets affect some routes
- Check the details of older properties carefully
